The IV Young Scientists Congress is an important part of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by Decree of the Russian President to cement the role played by science and technology in the resolution of tasks essential to ensuring the development of the nation and society.
The Congress is a major platform for dialogue between basic and frontier science, government authorities, and the real economy, and it informs Russia’s scientific and technological development.
The Congress business programme included over 190 events in four main areas: ‘Major Challenges and Priorities of Scientific and Technological Development’, ‘Science without Borders: Sharing Principles and Uniting Minds’, ‘Development Resources: People, Ideas, and Infrastructure’, and ‘Initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia’.
Roundtables, sessions, discussions, and educational events featuring 933 speakers were held in various areas of scientific research. The participants discussed the development of quantum, microfluidic, and neuro technologies, the use of artificial intelligence in science, education, and medicine, the labour market for the professions of the future, digital services for the scientific community, the commercialization of scientific developments, the development of youth science, and the popularization of science.
Per tradition, the participants took part in more than 40 events of the sports, cultural, and evening scientific and entertainment programmes. The Congress sports programme included events in eight sports.
In 2024, the Congress was attended by more than 7,000 people from 85 regions of the Russian Federation and 63 countries. The biggest event at the 4th Young Scientists Congress was the plenary session, which was attended by more than 1,200 people. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the participants and guests of the 4th Young Scientists Congress.
In 2024, the Congress hosted the events of the 9th BRICS Young Scientists Forum, which brought together 180 delegates, the largest number of participants in its entire history. For the first time, AI-based simultaneous interpreting into nine languages was tested for the Forum’s numerous foreign guests.
The participants also had a chance to visit the traditional exhibition of modern Russian technologies: 50 major Russian companies, universities, research and educational centres, and state and public organizations presented their scientific achievements, developments and startups. The exhibition area covered almost 7,000 square metres.
